Tonight it was the smell of Mock Orange... at least that is what I call it?? No idea what it's real name is??
The smell only comes out at night? Why???? I have no idea?
The memory is of my life with Bob.
He had one in his front yard on the way to the front door.
It is a Hawaiian Smell?
Sweet, Perfume, Fresh, Overpowering, LOVELY.

This morning it was the smell of a mandarin. Peeling the bright orange fruit. The spray of the oil. CHRISTMAS. Mom always put one at the bottom of our Christmas stocking. I always associate the smell of Mandarins with Christmas. Thanks MOM.

Gardenias = The evening we told Jims father I was pregnant. Walking up to his front door I smelled Gardenias. I will never smell a gardenia without remembering that night.

Mint = The first time I had a massage by Seth at Orr Hot Springs, He crushed fresh mint before he massaged by face. I grew it outside my office on San Antonio Road in Los Altos and did the same for my clients for 14 years.

Douglas Fir - Christmas. My favorite variety of Christmas tree, they grew like wild fire on our property in Saratoga. We used to cut them down each year, we hated them, we didn't want a "Charlie Brown" tree, we wanted one from a tree lot...... All I want now is to go to our old property and cut down a tree with the smell that reminds me of my Childhood Christmases.

Lilac = Mrs. Huston, my Moms best friend when I was growing up. She wore Lilac as her perfume? She had a plastic fake boquet on the back of her toilet? or next to her sink? I loved her, the way she smelled and her purple hair.

Sunscreen = The Bob Dow i knew and loved.

Brute aftershave cologne = Tom Barton/My Dad.

A Construction site = My Childhood, growing up working on Dads jobs. Fresh

In New Zealand I have a jar with dried Bay, Mugwort, Pine and Sage. When I'm homesick for California I open the jar and take a good long sniff. Now that I am in California I can smell these smells every day I go for a walk in the woods. NOW I miss New Zeland, my bed, view, life and jar of smells that remind me of California.

Tell me your smell memories???
