THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE BY CHERYLE
My gift in life is giving Deep Tissue Therapeutic Massage
I have been practicing my skill since 1988
I have specialized over the years in Pre Natal, Labor and Delivery and Infant Massage.
I have worked with Stroke Victims, Injury and Prevention, TMJ, Migraines, Shoulder and Hip Problems.
My greatest talent is finding the Hypertonic Muscles and working them until they Loosen and Elongate.
I Teach Stretching and Yoga to my clients so they can prevent the muscles from continuing to contract.
Deep Tissue Therapeutic Massage given with integrity and love. My focus is on a clients problem areas, my hands naturally go to areas of contraction. The goal is to get the muscles to Elongate, Relax and Let Go. My skill comes with incorporating breathing deeply, exhaling double the length of the inhalation and going into the muscle only as it will accept the work. Muscles do soften. More flexibility and range of motion is possible. Homework of postural changes and stretches are given with each session as needed.

TESTIMONIALS "My first massage from Cheryle was in Big Sur this past sunny, warm December. I've had dozens of massages and a massage from Cheryle is at the top of my recommend list!! She was so attentive to my comfort needs, and her strokes and pressure were perfectly blended with her care-full listening to my body. I felt luxuriously nurtured, and my body received support for more healing of my spinal condition." Jean Morrison NVC Facilitator Esalen
Testimonial:
I have received bodywork from Cheryle for over 4 years. She has always been very professional and reliable, and her work is especially therapeutic. She really knows how to find the knots in your muscles and how to loosen them. Her bodywork can be calming, but it can be more than that, depending on your needs. I opt for deep work, which can be a bit painful at times. There is always a noticeable results payback. For example, I had suffered from planar fasciitis for a few weeks. My own attempts at stretching that muscle had not worked. Cheryle gave me full relief from the pain after fifteen minutes or so of deep work on the soles of my feet. Cheryle is also attuned to the bodywork needs particular to cyclists. Highly recommended, especially when serious therapy is needed. -- Alan
I came to Cheryle on the recommendations of friends who couldn't stop talking about how wonderful she was. I have an ongoing problem with my shoulder and the massage really helped. She has an amazing understanding of the body, how it works, and how to heal it. Cheryle also gave me excellent follow up advice and exercises, which I have followed up with good results. Overall, its the best (of hundreds of massages) I have had in my life! On top of all this, Cheryle has created a lovely environment - the massage room and garden are divine, and the drive to her house is one of New Zealand's hidden gems. Claire
Cheryle was really good at diagnosing issues and providing advice on techniques for correcting those issues. She has a no nonsense approach - the moment she lays her hands on you know you are in the hands of someone who knows what they are doing! Ian
The fee for an in home Therapeutic Massage by Cheryle is $330 for 90 mins
I truly understand this is not attainable for many people.
I have set my fees at a rate that I need to be able to afford to live in the Bay Area.
I am only able to work a max of four hours a day without injury and exhaustion to my own body.
The work I do is demanding. My hands are sore and tiered always, even only doing four hours a day.
I drive a minimum of 30 mins to get to a clients homes, often up to one hour in each direction depending on traffic.
I also truly believe I have earned the right to charge the amount I do because I am an expert at finding hyper tonic muscles and releasing them.
It is my gift.
After 34 years, I can do it with my eyes closed in my sleep!
I also speak English. I listen to what's happening in your body and I focus on your individual needs.
Clear, open ongoing communication is vital for giving a good massage.
I need to know what depth of work you are able to breath through, relax into, and receive.
I need to be told when you need me to "lighten up", "go slower", "go back to that last spot", or "please stay there just a little bit longer......"
I hope this gives you a clear understanding as to why my fees are the amount they are.
In saying all of the above, I also want to care for those without as much financial security.
Please reach out to me directly if you have a physical challenge you believe I can help you with.
I endeavor to collaboratively come up with an amount you are comfortable with and able to afford.
While living in New Zeland I received deer antlers and ground beef for my services.
In my lifetime I have exchanged massage for a hand made rocking horse, photography and even an exchange for my housing.
What is important, is that you receive the bodywork you need and I am able to meet all of my living costs.
