I was not raised by alcoholics BUT both my parents Fathers were alcoholics.
Basically this book is excellent for anyone raised in a dysfunctional family.
Totally dated.. which makes is sweet.

Some of my favorite parts in the book is when she goes through the MYTH's... (for example) the Myth that "If I am involved with you I will lose me."
For each Myth she says,......
TRUTH.......... (she explains what the truth is)
In the REAL WORLD................(she explains what happens in the real world)

GOTTA LOVE IT

Another chapter I LOVED was about EXPECTATIONS.......
SHE SAYS......
Healthy relationships involve EXPECTATIONS.... 
It is a Shared commitment to FULFILL them. .. 
YOU HAVE TO TELL YOUR PARTNER what your expectations are!!! 
If you tell your partner what you want and he/she does NOT fulfill them, it needs to be talked about. 
NEEDS/ Expectations need to be expressed and discussed? don't know? Ask?

There is also a great little chapter on Incest...... 
SHE SAYS the effects of incest are more detrimental than the effects of Alcoholism.....(not that comparison is a good thing) but she points it out in an attempt to make sure those of us who have been afflicted by incest GET HELP.......THANK goodness there is sooooo much "help" in soooo many different forms available.

Long Story Short........
If you struggle with INTIMACY This is a great read.

Be a WOOFER (willing worker on organic farms) http://www.wwoof.org
Work 5 hours a day, 5 days a week in exchange for food and accomodation
minimum 3 days, max depends on what a great worker you are, how dependable you are and how well we work and live together. There is enough work for a LIFETIME for several workers.
The WWOOF caravan was smashed into the earth by a tree that fell... soooo until another caravan is bought, accomodation is in the art studio on Thermarests. bare bones basically but GREAT food and outdoor bath & shower. IF you prove to be compatible the possibility of moving up in heaven into your own room is a carrot.
BUILDERS are especially appreciated... IF the stage (for the outdoor amphitheater) is going to be built, gotta have one long term. Spread the word to all the builders you know that want to live in HEAVE.. I will add in a FREEEEE 2 hour massage for every week of work completed!!! Plus cocktails, wine or beer on the weekends!!!!

YES... I was SPOILED ROTTEN by Jane... she made me BEAUTIFUL meals, treated me like a Queen.... Sooo sweet to be the guest. I LOVED every minute of our time together.

The GREATEST thing about Boston is having bikes to hop on and off of WHERE EVER I was......
You have 30 minuets to get to where you want to go. EXPLORE that area then get on another bike, cycle for up to 30 minutes to your next destination EXPLORE then get on another bike.

sooooooo fun. EVERY city in the world ought to have this system.
LOVED every minute of it EVEN though the Boston Drivers are NUTS, BAD BAD Drivers and the roads are total CRAP, pot holes everywhere.
